Thank you for installing Classic FTP. Classic FTP is an easy-to-use FTP client that allows you to upload, download and delete files from a remote server (website) or network.
As its name suggests, Classic FTP has been specifically designed to look and feel like a typical ftp client. Whilst offering all the same features as other ftp clients, Classic FTP is perfect for both advanced and novice website administrators. For more software titles, please visit NCH Software.
Main Features
- The main toolbar has buttons for "Sites", "Connect", "Quick", "Disconnect", "Logs", "Options", "Upgrade/Purchase", "Suite", and "Help". Note that the "Upgrade/Purchase" button will not appear on the paid version.
- On the left side, just below the main toolbar, is the folder selection box for browsing on your local file system.
- Below the local folder selection box is the toolbar for local files.
- The large panel on the left is the local file browser.
- On the right side, just below the main toolbar, is the folder selection box for browsing on the remote server's file system.
- Below the remote folder selection box is the toolbar for remote files.
- The large panel on the right is the remote file browser.
- The smaller dark blue panel below the remote file browser is a logging window.

The remote files toolbar has the following icons: - Rename - Rename the selected remote file.
- New Folder - Create a new folder in the directory.
- Delete - Delete the selected remote file.
- Refresh - Update the current listing of remote files.
- Up - Change directory up one level on the remote system.

Between the two large panels there are three arrows: - A green arrow pointing toward the right - files that are selected on the left will be uploaded when this arrow is clicked.
- A blue arrow pointing toward the left - files that are selected on the right will be downloaded when this arrow is clicked.
- A green-and-blue two-headed arrow - files on both sides (selected or not) will be synchronized when this arrow is clicked. This will result in both sides having the more recent version of every file.
Right-click popup menus
- In the local file browser panel, the right-click popup menu works exactly the same as in File Explorer.
- In the remote file browser panel, the right-click popup menu has fewer options because ClassicFTP has limited control on the remote server.
