This dialog is used to edit a drum kit map. You can decide what percussion instruments are used in the percussion stave of your drum kits. Also, you set the properties of instruments including name, note head and stave position.

Instrument Name: Allow you input a name you like. Its sound is defined by MIDI note number from "The MIDI Specification". The General MIDI (GM) protocol of the specification defines a map between MIDI note number and instrument in order to make instrument sound predictable.

Most of MIDI note numbers are not defined by the General MIDI (GM) protocol, so their names are empty. You maybe need them to extend your instruments occasionally. Generally, you do not need to define many instruments in a map because both the number of instruments/pieces in a drum kits and stave room are limited. If you can clear the name of an instrument to prevent you from inserting/placing its note on the stave.

Clear: Allow you to clear the instrument name quickly.

Reset: If the instrument is defined by General MIDI, you can use reset the instrument name to default name.

Note Head: You can change note head for an instrument to make it different from others so that you can easily know the instrument on the score. Note: Drums are usually noted with normal elliptical note heads, cymbals with 'x' note heads and auxiliary percussion with alternative note heads.

Stave Position: You can set stave position for an instrument to make it different from others so that you can easily know the instrument on the score according to its stave position like line and space.
