This page introduces the MIDI import options in MIDI Import Dialog. Although MIDI sequence shares many commons with sheet music, the disparity of the two formats cannot be neglected. MIDI Import Dialog provides useful options for the process of MIDI to scores. Appropriate options will greatly optimize the readability of imported scores and reduce the need of rework. Staff Options
- Tracks as staves: MIDI tracks are imported as staves. Using the track configuration table to fine tune the options of each imported track.
- Channels as staves: All tracks are merged and notes are rearranged by channel. Track configuration table will not take effect if it is checked.
Quantization
Quantization aligns a note to its closest beat based on the selected beat type. A cleaner score is expected to be produced with it. Especially helpful for a midi file recorded from a real musician's performance where notes may be offset.
- None: no quantization
- Quarter Note: aligns to quarter note beats
- Eighth Note: aligns to eighth note beats
- Sixteenth Note: aligns to sixteenth note beats
- Thirty-second Note: aligns to thirty-second note beats
- Sixty-fourth Note: aligns to sixty-fourth note beats
MIDI events to include
- Key signatures: includes key signature MIDI meta events
- Time signatures: includes time signature MIDI meta events
- Tempo: includes tempo change MIDI events and creates metronome marks
Tuplets to match
Currently, only triplets are supported.
Notations to import
- Sustain Pedals: imports MIDI controller #64 for pedal marks
Track Configuration Table
Configuring the options of each imported track for how it is converted to a staff. Configurable columns:
- Import: whether import the track. If default is "No", it means the track does not have notes.
- Clef: if "Auto", clefs will be determined by the program automatically. Otherwise, a selected clef will be used throughout the staff. Tablature and percussion cannot be auto assigned.
- Split: splits note on a great staff by either a fixed split point or dynamically if "Auto" selected. No process if "None" selected.
- Reorder: drag and drop an entry up and down.
