String tuning or “Tuning” is the apportionment of pitches to the open strings in musical instruments. They are described by the specific pitches that are made by notes in music. Conventionally, the notes are systematized from the string with the lowest pitch, onto the string with the highest pitch. In Crescendo, the Tuning or String Tuning Data feature is an additional tool that will help you customize the tablatures in your music sheets in accordance with your needs. You can access the String Tuning Data settings on the following: - On the tablature score, right click the clef and select “Edit String Tuning…”
- Open the Parts and Staves by clicking the “Parts Setup” button on the Home tab, then select any of the staff. On the “String Tuning”, click the icon
To alter the Pitch Names and Semitones per string: - Pitch Name: Click on the actual pitch name of the string that you wish to alter and select your desired name replacement from the dropdown.
- Semitone: Click on the semitone number parallel to the string number and pitch name. It should toggle into a textbox where you can type your desired semitone manually or use the up and down arrows.
To add/subtract the number of strings and Frets: - On the pop-up window upon opening the String Tuning Data, the current number of strings and frets of your highlighted tablature is shown on the right.
- Use the up and down arrows beside the textbox to raise or lower the number of strings. The same principle applies to the number of frets.
- Once you have finished customizing, the new tuning data settings automatically applies to your tablature upon clicking “OK”.
There are also Alteration settings represented by two radio buttons that gives you the option to show or hide Sharps and Flats of the notes on your tablature. To save the String Tuning Data you are currently customizing, you may do so by clicking the “Save Preset As…” button on the lower right of the pop-up window. |
