General Options

Run IVM automatically

IVM can be set to run automatically when the computer starts. To enable or disable this, tick or untick the "Run IVM automatically as tray icon on Startup" option. If you want to use IVM for a permanent telephone service, you should select this option.

There are many modes of running automatically which you can select in the pull down list.

To enable/disable the following functions perform the following steps.

1: Click on the "Settings" button listed at the top of the user interface.

2: Click on the "General" tab.
There are many modes of running automatically which you can select in the pull down list.

If you want IVM to run always irrespective of whether anyone is logged on select one of the "Run As Service" options. When running as a service IVM will work before logon and after log off.

By default when running as a service IVM will 'show' and be accessible to all users as an icon on the tray of task bar. You can change this to limit it to the current user or no users. If you plan to use Windows Terminal or Remote Desktop you probably should restrict IVM to a local user or no users because 'showing' on a remote desktop can sometimes knock out local devices because they attempt to use the remote devices!

Running as a service only takes effect the next time you restart the PC. You should also check that it works after restarting your computer. If you have any problems check any folders are accessible from the "Local System" account.

Bring IVM to foreground when new message is received

When this option is ticked, IVM will open to the foreground when a new message is received. This is useful if it is important that you know someone has left a message, but you may want to turn it off if you are working on your computer and do not want to be interrupted.

Answer Mode (Default Options)

The answer mode settings can adjust the amount of time a caller will wait prior to the call being answered. These settings can be adjusted for the entire IVM system from the General Settings page of the Options dialog. They can also be overridden for specific lines. For more information on setting these options for a specific line see Telephony ~ Other.

Answer calls after fixed number of rings (2 - 20) - This is the number of rings you would like a caller to hear before IVM answers.

Use Tollsaver - For answering machine implementations in IVM it may be desirable to have IVM ring longer when no new messages are waiting. By selecting this option IVM will ring an additional 2 rings before answering a call in that case. By default this will happen if there is a new message in any of the mailboxes in IVM.

Only apply Tollsaver to a single mailbox - If you prefer IVM can limit the Tollsaver to a single mailbox. You can have the mailbox automatically selected using the caller ID by selecting the "Use Caller ID" option. This will check for new messages in mailbox 101 for calls from extension 101. You can also pick a specific mailbox that is always checked for any calls coming in to IVM.

Configure Default Email Settings

This button opens the email settings for emails being sent to mailbox users with e-mail message delivery selected. See Email Settings for more information on these settings.

Enable Speech Recognition in OGMs

If you would like to use voice commands to control your IVR solution you will need to enable speech commands and select a speech recognition engine to use for recognizing the voice commands. After this is done you will also need to configure your OGMs by adding the appropriate voice command mapping information. For mor information on this see: Voice Commands.

If you do not have SAPI installed on your machine (or do not have a speech recognition installed) IVM will download a speech recognition for you. This is a fairly large component, but will only need to be downloaded once.
