Entire Desktop
Automatically takes a screenshot of the whole screen (excluding PhotoPad).
- After selecting this screenshot type, PhotoPad window will be temporarily hidden.
- The screenshot of the entire desktop will be taken and PhotoPad window will be restored.
- PhotoPad will then import the screenshot ready for editing.
Specific Window
Screenshot a specific window from the available list.
- Select a window to screenshot from the list shown.
- After selecting a target window, PhotoPad window will be temporarily hidden.
- The target window will be restored (if minimized) and will be moved in front of other windows.
Note: If issues are encountered at this point, please refer to Possible Screenshot Issues section below. - The screenshot of the target window will be taken and PhotoPad window will be restored.
- PhotoPad will then import the screenshot ready for editing.
Custom Selection
Minimizes PhotoPad and gives you a selecting tool to crop the portion you want.
- After selecting this screenshot type, PhotoPad window will be temporarily hidden.
- Select a portion of the screen using the selection tool.
Alternatively, click on ESC key in keyboard to cancel the screenshot. - After selection is done, the screenshot of the selected portion of the screen will be taken and PhotoPad window will be restored.
- PhotoPad will then import the screenshot ready for editing.
Target Window did not restore
- Possibly failed to restore the target window for screenshot due to lack of Administrator privileges.
Note: Target window is possibly running with Administrator privileges while PhotoPad does not. - To solve this, please restore the minimized target window and try again.
Another option is to restart PhotoPad to run in Administrator Mode (Click on PhotoPad Icon > More > Run as Administrator) and try again.
Target Window is not moved to front
- This can happen if another window is interacted with while waiting for the screenshot.
- To solve this, it is advised to avoid switching windows while waiting for the screenshot of the target window.
Target Window is not available
- This can happen if the target window has been closed before the screenshot is taken.
- To solve this, please open the target window and try again.
