Axon can also provide a message waiting indicator (MWI) when using internal voice mail or IVM Answering Attendant software. This will work with Express Talk, LinkSys SPA9XX Series IP phones, and any other softphones/IP phones that support similar signaling technology (please read your phone's user manual to determine if MWI is available, and for configuration instructions.).

Using MWI with Express Talk
  1. Open the Options dialog in Express Talk
  2. From the Lines Tab, select the option "Check for voice mail notifications on the default line"

Notifications for messages for the default line will now be shown in the log window of Express Talk, and a special icon will flash in the title bar when there are new messages.

Using MWI with a LinkSys SPA9XX
  1. Obtain the phone's IP address:

To find the phone's IP address, press the settings button on the phone (look for an icon of a paper with a folded corner). Using the arrow buttons, scroll through the settings menu to the Network option and press Select. Write down the Current IP address.

  2. Enable Message Waiting Indicator:

Notifications for messages for the extension will now be received by the phone and a special mail icon will appear next to the line number whenever there are new messages.
