There are several tools included with Classic FTP to help manage and navigate sites more quickly and efficiently.

Compare Directories

The Compare Directories tool will display file differences between the local and remote directories. To use the tool, click the Tools menu and select Compare Directories. Any file on either side which is newer than its counterpart in the other directory, or which has no counterpart, will be selected.

Import/Export

Export Site

To export your site information, including server, username, and password, to a text file, use the Export Site feature. Click Tools -> Import/Export -> Site -> Export and the Export Site dialog will appear. Select the site you want to export, then click the Export button, select a save location and file name and click Save.

Import Site

To import site details after a back up or from another computer, click Tools -> Import/Export -> Site -> Import and the open file to import dialog will appear. Select the file you want to import, then click the Open button.

Export Settings

To export your program settings (everything in the Options menu), click Tools -> Import/Export -> Settings -> Export, select a save location and file name and click Save.

Filter

To display the filters in the main interface, turn filters on from the Tools menu. When looking through directories that contain many files, use the filter to find a specific file quickly. Type a term that will appear in the file name in the filter field and click the Filter button. The list view will be condensed to files that return a match for the filter term.
