You can use the wizard to scan for deleted files on your hard drives. The wizard will run automatically when the program starts. From the main interface, you can run the wizard at any time by clicking the Recovery Wizard button on the toolbar.

Drive Selection

Click the browse button next to the edit box and select the root drive you wish to scan. If you want to limit the search to a specific sub-folder, select it instead. If you select a sub-folder, only files belonging to that folder or its sub-folders will be returned. Additionally, any files found deleted from the recycle bin or files whose directories can't be fully determined will also be returned. This is why the scan will take just as long as a full drive scan. Orion must scan the entire drive in case your directory has been overwritten.

File Type Selection

Select the type of file you are trying to recover. Based on the option you pick, the results returned will be limited to files with specific "extensions," the last letters of the filename after the final dot ("."). For example, .exe, .doc, or .mp3. For details about the file extension that are associated with each file type, see the Recover File Wizard ~ File Type Selection help topic in the Screen References section. To simply return all files, select the All option.

Filename

Enter the name of the file you are trying to recover. You can also enter part of the filename. This will limit the search to files that match this entry. It is equivalent to entering text in the filter box on the main interface.

If your search returns few or no results, try leaving this field blank and running the scan again to obtain more results.
